Help! What do I wear?

When getting ready for your photo session, I recommend keeping it SIMPLE (although I know it's anything but simple figuring it all out!). Keep these tips in mind to ensure everyone looks great together:

  • Choose a palate of colors that go well together, avoiding busy patterns and logos that can distract. We want the focus on your faces, not your clothes.
  • If you have one outfit with a print that you love, pull the colors in it for everyone else's outfits.
  • Make sure everyone feels comfy in their outfits so their smiles are genuine.
  • Classic styles work well, and it's good to consider the season when picking colors.
  • Accessories can be a nice touch, like scarves or jewelry.

In group photos, we want everyone to look like they belong in the same group while still showing off their individual personalities.

How many outfits can I bring?

Depending on the type of session you're preparing for, you may want more than one outfit. (Keep in mind for outdoor sessions, this sometimes means changing in the car.) Here's what I recommend for each type of session:

MINI - 1 outfit

ENGAGEMENT - 2-3 outfits

NEWBORN - 1 neutral outfit for Mom & Dad, no outfit for baby (I have swaddle wraps)

FAMILY - 1 outfit

MILESTONE - 2 outfits

SENIOR - 2-3 outfits per hour

Keep in mind you can bring a jacket for some photos if you want "another outfit" without needing to actually change.

Here are some examples of cohesive and simple outfit choices to give you inspiration. (If you need a second set of eyes, I am always happy to give some honest feedback or ideas. Just send me a message!)
